Tandem Talent is proud to be working with an exciting, people focused retail company who are looking to recruit a new Logistics Operations Manager based in our clients head office outside of Swindon. 

The main purpose of the role is to support the Head of Operations in delivering the logistics operating plan by taking ownership and responsibility for the logistics operation and team-wide accountability for the delivery of the overall operational plan.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Lead, develop and motivate direct reports so that they deliver or exceed objectives and KPIs, including accuracy targets and future potential is identified and developed in line with business needs.

  • Effectively plan and execute all resource requirements ensuring that the right people, processes and equipment are in place so that the agreed logistics operational plan is met and service levels and productivity maintained.

  • Ensure all appropriate training and development for the area is planned and delivered in order to meet both current and future operational and legal requirements.

  • Ensure all agreed logistics operational processes are communicated, adopted and worked, with Standard operating procedures kept up to date, so that all individuals within the operation understand what is required of them within their role in order to drive performance and productivity.

  • Proactively work to identify improvement opportunities and effectively apply any changes in logistics process and design as agreed with logistics operations manager to achieve improvements in operational performance

  • Ensure the logistics operation operates within company guidelines and legislative requirements in order to protect all site personnel (colleagues, contractors, visitors etc) and reputation and ensure that operational compliance is maintained.  

 

The candidate:

The ideal candidate will have a distribution and warehousing background with extensive managerial experience in logistics.You must have proven ability to support cultural change and the ability to use your initiative when required. Candidates with experience using Lean six sigma principles are also desirable.
